FROM AMSTERDAM to the
AFRICAN BUSH
We’re Lotte (33) and Wesley (43). Our love for Southern Africa began long before we ever considered emigrating. Years of overlanding journeys — weeks on end in a 4×4 with a rooftop tent — shaped the way we travel and the way we see the world.
In 2019, Wesley proposed to Lotte in the heart of Africa. Two years later, we returned to get married there, surrounded by a small circle of loved ones. Somewhere along the way, Africa stopped being a destination and started feeling like home.
In 2021, everything aligned. A changing phase of life, the impact of COVID on our hospitality businesses in Amsterdam, and a growing pull towards a more intentional way of living. We made a decision: we would build our future in Africa.
living the life we share
After years of preparation, planning and patience, we relocated to the Waterberg region in Limpopo. Today, we run a small-scale lodge on our own 145-hectare game farm — where hospitality remains at the heart of everything we do.
Our days revolve around hosting guests, caring for the land, working with our local team and living alongside the wildlife that roams freely around us — from giraffes and zebras to kudu, nyala and countless bird species.
This is not something we sell from behind a desk.
It’s a life we live — and an experience we love sharing.
Hospitality Is in Our DNA
Before Africa, our careers were rooted in Amsterdam’s hospitality scene — Wesley as a chef, Lotte front-of-house. From working with friends to running our own businesses, we learned what true hospitality means: attention to detail, warmth, consistency and genuine care.
Those values now define every journey we design through LoWes Africa.
